Electrical monitoring and control systems – Recommended practice
This document details a recommended practice that can be applied in the design, manufacture, application, testing, commissioning, and operation of an electrical monitoring and control system (EMCS) and a power management system (PMS). The EMCS is an integrated system with components for monitoring, control, and collection of data pertaining to electrical power systems. In many EMCSs, an integral or interfaced PMS is used to manage the sharing of electrical power generation and load. With a variety of implementation methods used by suppliers and operators for EMCSs and PMSs, the recommended practice (RP) described in this document provides an overview of the most common implementation methods and functions along with key recommendations applicable to these. This RP covers both the oil and gas industry (onshore and offshore) and the interfacing of renewable generation to such facilities (e.g., wind turbines to an offshore oil and gas asset).
