Assessment of eye tracking technology in well control operations - offshore
IOGP commissioned a study to identify the potential benefits of eye tracking technology to enable safety improvements for well control. The study followed experienced drilling professionals using eye tracking equipment during offshore operations. The study found that eye tracking technology is an effective analysis tool and has the potential to be of value in other human performance areas that affect wells operations. This Report further develops the findings of IOGP Report 656 – Assessment of eye tracking technology in well control operations and IOGP Report 656-1 – Assessment of eye tracking technology in well control operations – onshore. The study aimed to uncover human factor implications for the offshore drilling task, and differences to the previous onshore findings. The general aim was to inform potential improvement in drilling interfaces and tasking.
