Invasive alien species (IAS) are animals, plants and other organisms that are introduced by humans accidentally or deliberately into a (natural) environment where they are not natively found and which have negative impacts on nature. This document provides a general background and guidance on IAS prevention, early detection, removal and containment focused on onshore and offshore energy sector activities (exploration, development, operations and decommissioning).
