Mobile Construction Equipment
This guidance note provides recommended practice for the safe operation of Mobile Construction Equipment (MCE) when operating on and moving between worksites. Following these recommendations can reduce or eliminate the significant risks associated with the movement of MCE. It is based on and provides additional guidance to IOGP Report No 365 – Land transportation safety practice. Mobile Construction Equipment (or ‘yellow iron’) is self-propelled equipment used for lifting, load handling, excavating, grading, scraping, drilling, towing, or similar activities. Any other Heavy Vehicle and/or Light Vehicle used within a controlled site are not addressed here. This guidance note is not a definitive operator’s manual for worksite operations of MCE. It does not supersede regulations, legislated requirements, industry/trade expectations of performance or manufacturer’s recommendations.
