The oil and gas industry operates in many locations where people work, and often live together, in close quarters, such as offshore installations, ships, and remote camps. In these types of locations, infectious diseases can spread rapidly, affect workers, and disrupt operations. Long-distance travel is common, and workers can reside in locations other than where they work and thus be exposed to endemic or seasonal diseases in another country and bring them to the workplace. This Report has been developed for local management and operations personnel working in these locations. It offers guidance on prevention, identification, and control of infectious disease outbreaks. It also provides advice on reviewing lessons learned to enable continuous improvement in the management of infectious diseases.
