This good practice guide has been developed to help operators navigate the steps and good practices involved in planning for, and implementing, an oil spill monitoring and sampling (M&S) programme. The guidance is presented in phases related to the complexity of the M&S activities required for a specific spill situation, and/or the point at which these activities are occurring within the spill response process.
